Amanda Evans, Harpist

Biography

Amanda is a harpist with over twelve years of experience based out of the Hartford, CT area. During that time she has done extensive traveling all over the Northeast as a freelance harpist for weddings, receptions, solo and ensemble recitals, orchestras and musicals, corporate events, graduations and other special occasions. This past summer Amanda joined the Ohio Light Opera for their 2008 season. She has also participated in national and regional harp competitions. Amanda plays a concert grand harp, which is capable of producing more complex and diverse pieces than a smaller celtic or lever harp.

In 2008 Amanda recieved her Master's Degree in harp performance from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where she was the Teaching Assistant for the department under the direction of Kathleen Bride. During the 2007-2008 academic year Amanda was on the faculty of Houghton College in upstate New York, where she was the Instructor of Harp. She continues to teach harpists of all levels in her own studio. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in harp performance from the Crane School of Music in upstate New York, studying with Dr. Jessica Suchy-Pilalis. Amanda is origianlly from Connecticut, and completed her pre-college studies at the Hartt School of Music, where she received a Performer's Certificate.
